Glut of chives - recipe help

NotaDinosaur · 14/07/2015 18:10

I've just been out into the garden and my chives have gone wild, I hate waste so was wondering if anyone has any chive-y recipes to use them up?

I have a total creativity block.

I have lots of chives too. Very simple but I love crushed new potatoes with chives. Boil in skins, drain, add butter, olive oil and salt and finely chopped chives. Mix and crush a bit with a fork. Yum! Goes with everything, but especially good with salmon.

Make chive butter, roll into little sausages and freeze. Put into chicken breasts etc in the future.

can you freeze them, I've not done it but apparently you can freeze lots of herbs.

I freeze them - just chop/snip and put in freezer bag. Easy to take out what you need. I also do this with parsley, tarragon, mint, oregano and coriander (dratted stuff always bolts before I can use it!). I hardly buy any herbs as I always have lots of extra home grown ones in the freezer.

Cheese and chive savoury scones.
