Very dark moist chocolate cake, not too sweet

I'm a reasonably good baker so I don't mind tackling something a bit tricky (within reason!). I'm looking for recommendations for a really good chocolate cake recipe. I want something that's very dark and chocolatey, moist and not too sweet. Any recommendations? Also, should I make some frosting for it and if so any recommendations for a recipe there? The other option I'm considering is just serving slices with whipped cream or pouring cream.

I haven't made a Black Forest gateau for a long, long time - that might also be a possibility.

It doesn't need to be a huge cake as it's just for four adults to eat at home. Cake decorating is not my strength (to put it mildly) but fortunately that won't matter.

Any thoughts? Thanks in advance!

I think Nigellas Guiness Cake is really moist and not too sweet. I usually do a cream cheese frosting on top so dead simple.

Gosh, that looks just the ticket! Many thanks.

I have recently been making a flourless chocolate cake from a recipe in the Guardian. I can't link but Google guardian plus flourless chocolate cake. The writer examines a range of recipes before creating her own. It is very rich and if made with high cocoa choc, it has a hint of bitterness. (It is also v nice when made with cheap supermarket brands).
