Is almond flour ground almonds?

Almond flour is ground more finely than normal ground almonds

flour is much finer and is dry, like flour.

I've always wondered about almond flour vs. ground almonds. I suppose in some recipes either would be fine - ground almonds can be used in a cake instead of flour for example, but if you have a food processor, I bet you make almond flour from ground almonds.

I can use mine to turn granulated sugar into caster sugar or icing sugar and it will be a similar process.
