How on earth do I poach and egg in the microwave.

can anyone help, I have a 800w microwave and on a diet that requires me to poach and egg.

They set egg poacher things for the microwave from Lakeland, I think. You have to prick the yolk, I also think!

I've always found it much easier to poach an egg in a saucepan tbh!!

Have a boiling pan of water, put a couple of drops of vinegar in it to help solidify the egg quickly. Crack egg into a cup then gently pour the egg into the saucepan. Wait until solid enough (occasionally skimming off excess foam egg white as necessary) - about three minutes. Lift out with slotted spoon.

Can't see it being much quicker in a microwave

I use a saucepan too. Love poached eggs.

For best poached eggs use the freshest eggs you have as they are more likely to stay as one in the pan. Also, sometimes it can be useful to stir the water around in a circle just before adding the egg - again as it can help to keeo the white together.
