Want a decent family recipe cookbook

Nothing fancy that I'm really not going to make. Just good proper family food like cottage pie or macaroni cheese, casseroles etc. I tried Ainsley Harriot's but it was too fancy. Need it for ideas too.

Any recommendations?

have you seen the "Good Housekeeping family cookbook"
Its got some lovely meals...not to fussy...I have it on my xmas list

chicaguapa · 14/11/2006 21:47

Thanks. Have just looked up the Good Housekeeping book and added it to my wishlist. It also brought up the Tana Ramsay cookbook which has excellent reviews. So I've added that one too.

I find Delias Complete Cooking is my great. If I am ever unsure how to make something then its more often than not in there.

try hugh fearnley - whittingstalls family cookbook. v good

handlemecarefully · 14/11/2006 21:55

The Dinner Lady Cookbook - naturally!

chicaguapa · 14/11/2006 21:56

Have emailed you Sunchowder.

I do have Delia's complete cookbook and use it a fair bit. But if I look something up it requires bay leaves and infusing which is a pain. I know there are simpler recipes out there! Although I do think her book is great for things like cooking rice and boiling eggs. The real back to basics stuff.

How to Eat - Nigella's best. Some fancy stuff, but lots of basics....

Chicaquapa! I have just emailed you back with details!
