please help me oh knowledgeable ones...

I need a 30th bday prezzie for DH who loves whisky. especially bourbon. But I want to get something special and "30" related...don't seem to be many 30th bourbons?

I know nothing (Jon Snow style) so I need help!

Was thinking...

Dalmore King Alexander Third with bottle engraved saying Happy 30th

or

Ballantines 30 year old

or

Cambus 1985 30yr old (spot on year / age but single grain, bizarre distillery. Will it taste like paint stripper?)

all thoughts hugely appreciated x

Would it be better to pay for a whiskey tasting masterclass?

Single grain whisky is as good as single malts. Cambus is a perfectly normal distillery but is quite a small distilling operation with a lot of bonded storage.

There are very few 30 year old matured bourbons. Have you considered a bottle from 1985?

Well, first of all, if he prefers bourbon then don't buy him scotch!

I adore bourbon and hate scotch. Would be gutted to get it as a present.

Get him something that was made the year he was born?

I am also one of Whisky Lover, I would like to suggest you to go online as you can get plenty of different varieties from Alcohol beverage website like laithwaites.co.uk where you can get almost all types of drink.

Bourbon is quite sweet and smooth, and most of those scotches you listed are anything but! Does he like other types of whiskey, or just American?

Also, Bourbon doesn't really get aged like Scotch does. In fact you usually get a mix of ages in one bottle, blended to get a particular taste profile, so you're very unlikely to find a 30yo that's any good.

Oh, OP was from June! He's probably had his birthday by now...
