Any ideas for inexpensive but interesting bakes for a School Fair? Not cornflake cakes ...! I have made stuff like Rocky Road before but it is actually quite expensive and then a bit disheartening if it is sold too cheaply.

Thank-you. My tray bake searches weren't getting very far.

Malteaser tray bake:

100g of butter
2 x large bars of chocolate
3 table spoons of golden syrup
220g of smashed up digestives
2 x large bags of Malteasers.

Melt chocolate, butter and syrup together, add smashed biscuits and Malteasers. Stick it in a tray and put it fridge try not to eat it all before donating to Fair.

If you are feeling fancy you can melt some white chocolate and drizzle it over the top.
It's my favourite thing ever and I can only make it on rare occasions as I could easily devour a full tray within a day or two. Last time I made it I had one square and gave the rest away to the neighbours as I couldn't trust myself with it sitting in the fridge.

You can substitute the maltesers for rolos or peppermint aero bubbles. Yummy

Flapjacks! Can tart them up with choc chips or nuts or both! Or some dessicated coconut or banana and so on

Like a big bar of dairy milky, I think it's around 220g a bar or there abouts.

No ideas I'm afraid, but I can vouch for the deliciousness of the Malteser Tray Bake. My granddaughter made it and brought some round for me. YUM!YUM!

What's wrong with chocolate rice krispie cakes with syryp? I'd sell my dh for one.

If you're not in N Ireland and want something different these are yummy
Fifteens
15 digestive biscuits crushed
15 marshmallows cut into small pieces
15 glacé cherries cut into small pieces
1 can condensed milk
Chuck everything in a bowl, mix well. Turn out on to dessicated coconut and roll into a cylinder about 5 cm deep. Refrigerate and slice. Can be scaled up or down but then they aren't 15's any more Wink
