I just chuck some granulated sugar in the bowl with mine but I'm sure there must be a better way Confused

Anyone care to share their recipes?

ASDA does popcorn flavouring - until we discovered this is was basically a bit of butter and sugar chucked in!

Just google soulemama popcorn. She's the queen. Here's just one example:

I've always wanted to know how to make salted popcorn like at the cinema but not stale. It's not the same when you just sprinkle salt over it as it all just sinks to the bottom.

marking my place...

chippednailvarnish · 05/06/2015 20:28

You need a tiny bit of butter to make it stick...

Mmm some lovely ideas. Have to try the butter trick.

If you put the sugar/salt into the pan with the unpopped corn it mixes more evenly and does then stick to the popcorn

chicaguapa · 05/06/2015 20:46

I wondered about that. We have a cinema-style machine with a kettle and I wasn't sure if it would be a bugger to clean afterwards if I put the salt in the oil?

OttiliaVonBCup · 05/06/2015 20:48

butter first
then salt
otherwise salt won't stick

salt must be maldon, crushed up a bit.

Sparkletastic · 05/06/2015 20:55

Powdered sugar - can crappy but mixes nicely

I put Maldon sea salt in my coffee grinder and grind it until it is a fine powder. This sticks really well to popcorn. I like black pepper and sea salt popcorn or fresh rosemary and sea salt

ThreeQuartersEmpty · 05/06/2015 21:11

We melt a few teaspoons of butter in the microwave, toss the popped popcorn in it, and then the seasoning sticks.

wonkylegs · 05/06/2015 21:12

Powdered sugar, powdered salt or really yummy powdered sugar and cinnamon.
Grind up in pestle & mortar if necessary. In powdered form it sticks better.

Chicagua - not sure as I do mine in a saucepan - no machine. Saucepan is fine to clean after.

Butter and marmite.

Cayenne with unpopped kernels.

Cinnamon and sugar with unpopped kernels.

Salt and chilli with unpopped kernels.
