dessert using strawberries and cream

Meant to make a meringue yesterday but didn't get round to it.

I'm thinking I might make a sponge cake and top with stawberries and cream but am I missing any good ideas?

I made this Nigella recipe the other day, and for various complicated reasons have custard, cake and cream left over so I'm going to make them into a trifle.

Hull the strawberries and chop them if they are large. Marinade with orange juice/elderflower presse/ orange liqueur and a litlle sugar. Serve small portions with a blob of cream at the side, a crisp plain biscuit, and a sprinkle chopped or crumbled chocolate.
