What time do you eat your main meal of the day and do you eat it together as a family?

Just wondering what other families do!

Usually together at 7 ish. 2 DC, aged 8 & 11, DH & I.

DH gets home 6.15 and we eat together (DS is 4). Only just works as it's a bit late for him.

In the evening - around about 6.30-7pm.

We all eat together on Friday, Saturday, and Sunday nights, and if we can manage it on Wednesday nights - sometimes we have to start without DH and he heats his up when he gets home. Other days DH is definitely back too late from work, and the DC have to eat earlier - I wait and eat with DH.

DD2 has hot lunches at nursery, so she actually gets 2 main meals. DD1 has sandwiches for lunch, so needs a main meal in the evening.

About 6.15/6.30 depending on when DP gets in. We all eat together. Kids are 7 and 5.

We eat between 7-8pm during the week, dh joins us if he can get home on time - otherwise he eats alone.

Kids are 12 and 8 and eat about 6:30/6:45, I get in at 6 and aim to feed them ASAP. I do sit down with them and we all talk, I usually have a hot drink. When they were younger they ate earlier at 5 pm at the childminders. DH and I eat much later, about 9:30/10:30 as he doesn't get in until 9 at the earliest. We eat together at the weekends, often have our main meal at lunchtime as I prefer to get cooking over and done with for the day, but not always as meals have to fit round cricket matches etc.

5:30, we all eat together.

Half the time we all eat together at 5.30ish, half the time dd (2) and ds (9mo) will eat together and me and dp will have something new or very spicy or a takeaway later when they are asleep!

I like sitting round the table, I'm trying to teach dd how to have a conversation, which is fun..

'What did we do today dd? Can you tell daddy?'

'Ducks.... Quack quack... Ducks have wriggly bottoms.......'

'We didn't see ducks today?!'

'Nope, horses.... Neigh.........'

We eat together, between 5 and 5.30

When it's just me and DP, we usually eat at about 9pm.

When DSS (9) is here, we usually eat around 7.30pm on school nights, and around 8 - 8.30 on non-school nights.

We're in France though, where generally people do eat later. People would be aghast at eating at 5.30pm or 6pm here, even with children.

Oh, and yes, we all always eat together as a household unless there are special circumstances.

Kids are 7 and 10, we eat main meal about 6.45/ 7 as we don't get in till 6ish. DH eats alone later as he gets in around 8.30 /9pm when kids are getting tucked into bed. We eat together at weekends.

About two nights during the week we all eat together at 5.30-6.30, when me and DH both get home from work in enough time to make and eat a family meal. The other days DS gets a quick tea of his own (cheese sandwich / beans on toast / fish fingers style) and we eat at 8-9. Weekends we all eat together at least one day, but also we may well do an earlier tea for DS Sat and we'll have a takeaway later. So we split it between both ways, all told.
