Edible wafer/rice paper cake topper

I've ordered one of these for DS's birthday cake, it's A4 size, but I'm not sure what sort of cake/icing would be best to have underneath and how to actually adhere it to the cake. Does anyone have any experience of using these? It's A4 size so was thinking of doing a chocolate sheet cake.

I think I used warmed apricot jam last time I used a rice paper topper.

I actually used cake-jam-fondant icing- rice paper. I stuck the rice paper on with a few dabs of royal icing.
