Use up 5 plums which never ripened?

They are not very tasty to eat as they never became ripe (crap tesco plums!) but are going wrinkly so need using.

Any recipes I could use them for as throwing them away seems wasteful...?

I would just cook them and have them with Greek yogurt.

Yes, stew them on a low heat with a bit of water and a big drizzle of honey. A pinch of cinnamon or nutmeg too if you have it. Will be yummy on porridge or with greek yoghurt. Hot or cold.

Cut them into halves and remove stones. Bung on a sheet of foil and sprinkle some castor sugar over them.

Make into a parcel and put in the oven for about 30 mins at gas 6 (or bottom of the roasting oven in an AGA).

Lovely with ice cream.

Chop and place in an ovenproof dish with some sugar. Top with crumble mix to which you've added a tsp of ground ginger. Bake.

I started off doing MarvellousMarbles but when it was simmering on the hob I had a sudden epiphany and decided to add a truckload of sugar and turn it into jam...

I must add I've never made jam before! It's set now but no idea how thick or runny it'll be or how it'll taste. Got some scones so will try it out after dinner!!

Thanks for awesome suggestions. I'm going to buy some more plums now specifically to try these recipes! Especially the baked plums warm with ice cream... yum...

Was the jam good OP?

I've got 6 plums sitting on my worktop that are hard as a rock and showing no signs of getting any riper so will be trying out some of these suggestions - sound lovely! (And why are plums refusing to ripen, is it the wrong time of year for them?)

Here's the jam I made and accompanying scones!! It came out lovely thanks Smile Must be beginners luck - I was sure the consistency would come out wrong but it's perfect. Added mixed spice and cinnamon too, yum. It was a really easy recipe but having a digital food thermometer helped.
