had a high blood sugar result, got docs on weds, and i know they will say tochange my diet, which i already have.

but have been invited out with some friends, and i really dont want to stuff anything up (i had some choc at the weekend, and felt shattered 2 hours later, for 4 days before hand, the mid-afternoon slump hadnt happened as i was being really careful), but i do want to go and enjoy myself as its great to get out for a while.

My dad and my FIL are both diabetic - they find Chinese restaurants a bit difficult because the sauces tend to be very sugary - so keep those to a minimum. Plain noodles, boiled rice are good, peking duck might be good because you don't have to have the plum sauce that usually comes with it. Spring rolls are fatty, which can be as bad for diabetics as sugar unfortunately. Also ask about the levels of MSG - apparently that's not very good for diabetics either.

what about a chow mein type thing?

i wont be dx with diabetes for a while if i do have i think. i need to do a GTT next possibly, before they say what it is.

Rice and noodles are both quite high in carbs, so you need to limit both of them. I'd try filling up on veg dishes in something like an oyster sauce, which isn't so sweet. (My brother is diabetic)
