Ideas for getting 2 year old to eat veg

Am despairing with ds2 - he refuses all veg apart from cucumber, and when I add to spag bol . That's also the only 'wet' food he happily eat, so hiding it in food hasn't worked either.

Anyone else had this with their lo, how did you get them to start trying veg again?

Haha why do all kids love cucumber so much! How about "noodles" made of courgette or carrot with the spiraliser or if you want a cheaper option a julienne peeler. Serve with your kids favourite sauce.

My dd loved picking leaves of sorrel I grew in the garden, it has a lemony taste, you could grow some together. A bit long term but kids love picking things.

this Annabel Karmel pasta salad has a nice Chinese dressing that goes really well together, my dd used to like it and would eat the little brocolli florets cut up small.

Same problem here. Bolognese sauce is Ok and fruit winders/fruit school bars. Sometimes raisins or a banana if I am lucky. We are ignoring it. He will sometimes eat some of the veg on his plate so we still offer it.

Oh, or what about a green smoothie? Baked beans?

Mine won't eat anything that looks like a veg at all, even cucumber.

The only thing I manage to do is blend spinach into pesto or cauliflower in to cheese sauce and serve with pasta. No of the other tricks mentioned would work with mine.

Mash cauliflower in with potato!

Don't give any fruit or biscuits, fruit winders etc. just give meals with cooked veg. His tastes will adjust & he eat because he's hungry.

Cauliflower cheese? Finely chopped broccoli in pasta bakes? Chopped tomato in scrambled eggs?

The old tomato sauce but with loads of veg blitzed up into it could be used with the spag bol. The problem being that it doesn't get DC to identify that they like particular veg.

With my youngest 2, I just kept putting very small portions of each veg we were having on their plates (e.g. 2 broccoli florets, 3 slices carrot) with no instructions to "just try" etc. and not commenting at all on whether it was eaten or not. Eventually it was usually tried (especially on a day after lots of activity and no snacks) - a lot of wastage, but worth it in the long run.

When the older DC were young and I had more energy I used to cut carrots with a flower shaped cutter, and cut other veg into shapes (sticks. triangles etc). I also got DC to make vegetable faces and then see who could eat them fastest or get them to pretend to be a giant who was coming to eat broccoli trees from a pile of mash.

Many children like vegetables that have been dressed with some butter or a squeeze of lemon.
