Cooking vegetarian food on the BBQ

Morning!

I am having a BBQ tomorrow and have been told that one of the guests is a vegetarian. Not a problem at all, I always do plenty of vegetarian friendly dishes when its just carnivores too because I like them so the menu is not an issue.

My query is - can I cook the veggie items that need cooking on the same BBQ grill as the meat items?

I wouldn't dream of cooking veggie and meat dishes in the same pan if I were cooking on the hob or in the oven for a vegetarian as I'd worry about meat juices and fat contamination but is it ok on the BBQ?! Confused

I don't want to ruin her food

Help!

I'd get a Teflon baking sheet, the flexible ones that people often line an oven with. Just place it on top of the BBQ - cook the veggies first to avoid spit from the meat, it makes great onions and the veggies don't fall through the gaps, so it'll come in fairly useful anyway.

No, please don't cook on the same grill, unless you cook all the veggie stuff first and the meat afterwards?

Either use a tray as suggested, or get one of those disposable BBQs to use just for veggie stuff.

or you could do some veggie stuff wrapped in tinfoil?

I'd do tinfoiled stuff in the main bbq, and have a small disposable bbq for veggie burgers/kebabs ets. Nothing worse than halloumi that tastes like sausages.

Thank you all!

I wasn't sure if I was over thinking it but glad I asked! I think I'll use a disposable one to avoid any meat spit! Grin
