Ive just cooked DS fish, potatoes, courgettes and carrots mixed with some of his horrible prescription milk, and he loved it.

BUT

Im a bit stuck on rules for cooking, freezing, defrosting and then reheating. Is it ok to do this or not with fish?

I think its fine to freeze fish Charlie, once its cooked. Don't think you can freeze it raw, in case its already been frozen though

And you definitely can't freeze it if you buy that double buggy.....

charlieplus3 · 28/04/2004 18:04

Well ive just frozen the remainder of the fish raw as i bought it fresh till i find out if i can freeze it cooked. IYSWIM

What buggy

presumably they would have told you, when you bought it that it had been frozen????

The buggy you are not buying

charlieplus3 · 28/04/2004 18:25

No they didnt but its a frsh fish counter so i doubt it. Anyway after cooking this one i wont re freeze it right?

What you mean that red one? Of course im not buying it, i mean i already have one dont i ? I mean what would my DP say, and i would never lie and say the other one broke or something like that.

not sure Charlie - I think its okay to freeze once its been cooked, even if it has been frozen raw
I think the thing you can't do is freeze raw fish, that has been frozen and defrosted already

Or is that chicken?

If you buy that buggy, I shall tell nutcracker, she is the MN buggy queen buyer

charlieplus3 · 28/04/2004 18:34

Anyone elsi know about fish?

No Lisa, she cant be the queen, this is my 4th already.I bought a teutonia for DS then a smaller buggy for the hols. Then a graco double but returned after a week as didnt like, now ive got a mothercares own but i really really really love the red maclaren double.

I used to make a fish pie with mashed potato, fish, white sauce and veg. We'd eat some and I'd freeze the leftovers in ramekins/yoghurt pots to defrost and reheat later. Never had problems even though I'd use frozen fish portions, poached in milk, as the basis. Wouldn't freeze raw fish though unless I knew it was fresh out of the water.
