Favourite Lemon Drizzle Cake Recipe

I need to make a few cakes this weekend and as I have a couple of lemons knocking about I figured lemon drizzle was the way to go.
But there seem to be so many different recipes out there.
What are your favourite, tried and tested, lemon cake recipes? I might do Mary Berry's whole lemon cake instead.

Nigella's lemon syrup cake - buttery, lemony goodness.

Victoria sponge with lemon zest added, baked as a traybake, then take out of oven prod all over with a skewer and take juice of a lemon and 100g caster sugar stirred together and spooned on top. Makes a nice light lemony yum...

Here is mine - used it for years!Lemon Drizzle Cake

4 oz margarine
6 oz self raising flour
6 ox caster sugar
1 level teaspoon baking powder
2 large eggs
3 tablespoons milk
Grated rind of 1 lemon

topping ( mixed together)
4 oz caster sugar
juice of 1 lemon

Heat oven to 180/160 fan

Put all ingredients for cake into a large bowl and beat well
Spoon into a lined and greased tin - a deep one about 20 cm diameter
Bake for 50-60 minutes at 180/160 fan -

When cooked, take out of oven and pour the topping over immediately.
Leave to go cold before removing from tin

you can use 2 x 1lb loaf tins , they take a bit less time to cook - about 40-45 minutes

I might actually do lemon cup cakes with mascarpone icing instead.

Lorraine Pascal's is good , she uses poppy seeds in hers.

Like Somewhere I use a Victoria sponge recipe and add lemon zest

I usually make Nigella's but I've just looked up the whole lemon cake and I think that's the one for me! Must be so lemony.

My recipe is pretty much the same as agoodbook's. Very easy to make and always delicious. You can vary it by making an orange drizzle instead (or a mixtute of orange and lemon and call it "St Clement's cake". Works as both a loaf cake and a traybake.

I've made the whole lemon cake a couple of times. Very easy to do as you make the whole thing in a magimix.

Dp has done a lemon drizzle in a loaf tin. it has been in on 180 celsius for an hr and it's still gooey.

He used 225g butter, 225g sugar, 225g flour, 4 eggs and the zest of 1 lemon. Recipe said it should take 45-50 mins.
