I need a new cooker; apparently what I want is impossible - can anyone help?

I have a lovely silver Delonghi electric cooker; the oven door has it's hinge at the bottom.

I have just been to John Lewis & I'm on my way to Curry's; the ovens I have seen so far the doors all hinge on the right

Has anyone seen an oven door hinged at the bottom (free standing, electric, grey/black)

Tia

Thanks MyHovercraft - I rang them & they don't have a single cooker that opens that way Sad

Ours hinges at the bottom. It's an Ikea one.

BertieBotts · 08/04/2015 19:41

It's built in though. But we just have it on the floor because in Germany apparently kitchens aren't standard when you rent a place (who knew??)

BertieBotts · 08/04/2015 19:42

Hmm. My last oven also opened at the bottom, it was freestanding, it was gas though. And really shit. I'll try to remember the brand.

BertieBotts · 08/04/2015 19:42

Top, even.

KatyMac · 08/04/2015 19:43

I had a look & they only do integrated ovens/hobs nor free standing - but thanks I hadn't thought of looking there

I never knew German's rented houses without kitchens Grin

I wonder if I could do that.....DH would say no I think

Often without light fittings too. It's mystifying! And you're expected to lug the things with you when you leave. Confused

It does look a bit shit so we put it behind a curtain.

KatyMac · 08/04/2015 19:56

The curtain option wouldn't work here Grin but we do have light fittings thank goodness

Ours hinges at the bottom, it's a kenwood and is free standing.

KatyMac · 08/04/2015 20:08

They seem to be just gas ones that I can find - thanks tho' it's another manufacturer I hadn't considered

www.beko.co.uk/Item/BDVC664 wrong colour?

5madthings · 08/04/2015 20:17

Hmm lots of gas ones that hinge at the bottom but no electric ones. How odd! Hinges at bottom makes sense to me, I didn't consider any that opened any other way. Ours is a 6 ring hob with two ovens one large and one small. And it's silver.

I shall Google some more.

TheSpottedZebra · 08/04/2015 20:17

www.sonicdirect.co.uk/products.asp?id=108& seem to have a range of electric cookers with drop down doors in lots of colours!

Eek don't kbow what happened there!

Kenwood do do electric ovens though. Having Google and the ones I have seen look like the hinge is at the bottom. What size are you looking for?

The Beko has the wrong door - if you look in the picture you can see her floor Sad

The kenwood is just too big beautiful but too big I need a 600mm/60cm one

& I'll ring Sonic Direct in the morning to check - thank you

I need a new cooker; apparently what I want is impossible - can anyone help?

Oh so regular size. I had to take out a cupboard to fit my 90cm one and it was a squeeze but I love it.

I think most of the smaller ones are fitted and not free standing but shall keep looking. I do love kitchen appliances...

KatyMac · 08/04/2015 20:45

Aw thank you

I refitted my kitchen last august so I really don't want to do that....
