When I make it, with a ripe avocado, chilli, lemon, garlic, salt and pepper, it's always really bland and tasteless. What am I doing wrong?

Lime juice not lemon. Add more salt. Finely chopped, deseeded tomatoes.

I've used this recipe before and it's pretty good. It has lime, red onion and fresh coriander in it. Cumin sounds good though too.

Mine is:

red onion / crushed garlic / red chilli / coriander / lime juice / avocado / loads of black pepper / salt

I don't like tomatoes in it.

Best Guac ive ever had was made in front of me so I know exactly what went into it:
Ripe avocadoes
Rock salt
Tonnes of lime juice
Red chilli
Coriander

That's it. Amazing

It's not guac without coriander - it's just mushed up avocado. Which may indeed still be lovely, I just had some with ham for lunch. But it wasn't guacamole.

Mine is the same as GoodToes but with a couple of ripe tomatoes chopped up in it too. Does need plenty of lime, fresh coriander and salt with or without the toms though.

Oh and don't blitz it, just smash with a pestle or a fork so it's still quite chunky.
