I've offered to make a christening cake for a friend. I made my dd one using a recipe someone gave me on here many years ago. I can't find it now!!!!
I made one last night following a recipe from a cake decorating book but I'm not happy with it.
Would anyone have a recipe they could give me please? Thank you x

What sort of cake, a Rich Fruit Cake, a Sponge Cake?

If its a fruit cake , Delia does a one here , though it only goes up to 11", but below is how to scale it up to 12"

www.deliaonline.com/how-to-cook/baking/scaling-up-cake-recipes.html

taking the recipe for a 6 inch round cake as standard

10 inch round = 2.75 times standard
12 inch round = 4 times standard

Delia's cake scaling page gives lots of general advice. Larger cakes need a bit of care to make sure the outside doesn't over cook before the centre is done.

If you're thinking chocolate then I love this recipe www.lindyscakes.co.uk/2011/02/02/lindys-chocolate-fudge-cake-recipe/
Keeps for ages too so you can make in advance. Her website gives advice about scaling up too.
