Dh is having surgery tomorrow and requires 'soft food' for a few days. First day he has requested ice cream but after that I'm low on ideas. Thought i would do some broth and soup but that doesn't seem massively filling. Maybe mince and veg? Any suggestions?

You may find that he's not that hungry for a day or two after surgery anyway - I know my DD and Mum weren't. While he can't swallow lumps, maybe some honey and lemon or coffee made totally with milk - this will give him more nutrition and calories. These might be ideas for as he starts to feel better, but hope they help bolognese sauce, broccoli or cauliflower in a cheese sauce or scrambled egg. If he wants something sweet I guess yogurt or rice pudding would go down well, or make some kind of fruit milkshake (ie banana & milk, maybe a little sugar) or smoothie.

Hope it goes okay and he's feeling better soon.

How about risotto? Or gnocchi? Both soft and easy to eat

Cottage pie/shepherds pie
Fish pie
Scrambled eggs
Mince and dumplings
Kedgeree
Dahl
You could puree any vegetables to go with the above, eg mushy peas with the fish pie, carrots with the mince and dumplings

Fruit fool
Baked egg custard
Chocolate/coffee mousse

Rice pudding? Know it sound a bit odd but have a look in the MN wearing recipes section lots of soft food there, although you may need to increase the portion size Smile
