I've just ad libbed a carrot and coconut milk soup. It's so sweet! I thought since I was putting in kids of ginger and chilli it would work but no. Any suggestions to improve?

You could try adding more ginger, some coriander and lemon grass?

TheMagicToyshop · 23/03/2015 14:06

More spices like garlic, cumin, turmeric, garam masala, coriander? Salt and pepper? Even the tiniest dash of white wine vinegar (not enough to taste!)

Added a hundred more ch lilies and all my ginger and some spices. Tastes a bit better but still not ideal! Part of me thinks lime juice?

Bit of sweet potato to neutralise? Would keep the orangey colour that way too

salt and lemon or lime

Wouldn't sweet potato just make it sweeter? I Might do some lime but for some reason feels like it will be weird.

In my experience trying to fix terrible soup involves adding things to it which just results in a larger quantity of terrible soup.

Serve it with Creme fraiche or natural yoghurt.
