Weevils That takes me back. My grandma always had weevils in the flour but she kept it for decades and I'm not even joking . She probably explains my blasé attitude to use by dates.

Check smell and no bugs and of both ok, use. And I'm generally paranoid over outdated foods

Ok stupid question but I'm not sure I would recognise a weevil if I saw it. Can sifting the flour catch the weevils?

Weevils are just extra protein anyway .
After having a good scavenge for critters I'd use it for sure.
I would toss it if I actually found any critters, btw.
