Cake for a 40th/ Ruby wedding anniversary

It's my mum and dad's 40th wedding anniversary next week and I want to make them a cake.

Cheat! DD and I made a Betty Crocker type pack red velvet sponge last week and it was SO much nicer than my usual recipe. We also cheated on the icing and used a tub . The cake lasted 30 minutes after candles were blown out...

What about a chocolate orange cake? Or chocolate almond cake? There are some great recipes out there.
Do they have a favourite type of cake?
