Healthy fruit salad recipe?

I should probably know this but...

How can I make up mixed fresh fruit (that includes apples and other fruits that brown) to keep in the fridge for a couple of days without adding orange juice (which apparently is hideously unhealthy) - will lemon juice be enough? And how much should I use?

Googling "fruit salad recipe" has only turned up lots of 70's style fruit salads swimming in fruit juice - I just want to find a way to make my own tubs of prepared fruit (because the shop-bought ones are so expensive) that doesn't go brown.

Any suggestions?

OJ is not worse than lemon juice. Lemon juice is high sugar too but also very acidic and attacks tooth enamel. Just use a small amount of fresh orange juice and toss the fruit in it then store in an airtight container. Don't add bananas until the day of eating. Pear and apple chunks won't go brown if they have been tossed in orange juice. The salad doesn't need to be swimming in the stuff.

I'd squeeze an fresh orange over the fruit, rather than use cartoned OJ.

Thank you! Good idea about squeezing an orange instead of using concentrate, too.

I always make a base of lemon juice and water. That way there is plenty of "juice" to coat all the fruit. So whether you use lemon or orange, you can dilute it and it will still be effective in preventing browning.
