I found a slug in a Linda McCartney frozen meal

I was horrified to find a slug inside a Linda McCartney microwave meal that I bought from Waitrose. It gives me shivers to think that one of my boys or myself might have eaten it. I e-mailed Linda McCartney to complain and they offered me some vouchers in compensation. Am I getting fobbed off? Do they take these things seriously and take extra precautions to prevent it happening again in the future, or just sort of buy your silence with vouchers? Thanks everyone, Harriet X

Probably the most nutritional thing in the meal.

That's not very vegetarian is it? Grin boak.

BuzzardBird · 05/03/2015 10:12

Eating a slug would not have harmed them, even vegetarians can't be sure they are not eating tiny insects on veg.

I think you should practise your Daily Mail face though as they are fobbing you off a little...don't know what they could do tbh?

You're disappointed and out of pocket by a couple of pounds for the meal you couldn't eat. They need to compensate you for that.

Are you hoping for a bigger cash payout?

mabelbabel · 05/03/2015 10:15

Are you sure it wasn't a mushroom?

BuzzardBird · 05/03/2015 10:20

Were you upset because the slug was dead? They should probably compensate for grief counselling. :( Poor slug.

You do know you can't e-mail Linda don't you?

HarrietSizzles · 05/03/2015 11:31

No I just expected a more concerned response from LM. Seems like it probably happens a lot and they just pay people to keep quiet. The e-mail they sent was probably a template. I'll take the vouchers, I'm just not sure I want to buy their food again.

Have you got a photo of the slug?

HarrietSizzles · 05/03/2015 13:53

No I just threw it away. I didn't feel like keeping souvenirs.

If you'd had a photo you'd have had more power. Also you could have gone to environmental health Id have thought.

Have to say I think all LM food tastes awful anyway.
