Stir fry

Right I'm going to make a stir fry.
I don't need to buy a sauce do I? I reckon they probs aren't that good for you.
So what can I add to give it a bit of flavour? Fresh ginger ?

Any suggestions

In terms of flavour, sliced garlic, fresh chillies and fresh ginger should do it.

The only thing you might miss that a bought sauce provides is the saucy texture.

I usually use a bog standard sweet chilli dipping sauce (buy a bottle rather than expensive 'fresh' sachets). Yes it's not that good for you, but the ones I buy (either blue dragon, or supermarket own brands) don't have any funny chemicals, guar gums or anything. The only bad thing about them is the sugar!

I make a sweet and sour sauce from a jamie oliver recipe. Its just pineapple chunks in juice soy sauce and balsamic vinegar, its lovely.

I don't use a sauce.

Slice everything into long slices, not squares.

I do this: Hot oil, fennel seeds, ginger, chilli, and add onions, peppers, any other veg I have lying around so courgettes, carrots, cabbage, etc, and cook until slightly burnt, then add tomato puree, and some water and some vinegar...then whilst that is making sauce put the water on for the noodles, which take three minutes once the water boils, then add spring onions and crushed garlic as soon as the noodles go into the water, then soy sauce, drain noodles, toss into the pan and serve as soon as the noodles are all coated.

I don't use a sauce either - unnecessary and usually horrible gloop. In addition to the ginger, garlic, chillies and sliced veg suggestions above, I like to add noodles, bean sprouts, a good splash of soy sauce and finish off with sesame oil.

a bit of honey and a bit of worcester sauce (with fresh corriander if you have it) is pretty tasty

I usually grate ginger then squeeze out the juice, mix that with a little bit of stock and sesame oil and add it at the last minute, soons reduces down to a nice sauce. Chillis, garlic etc are already in the stirfy. Maybe a little soy/coconut aminos or balsamic too, and if you use pineapple in the stirfry it adds a lot of juice.

Along with veg and protein, for flavour I add garlic, chilli, ginger, sesame oil, Tamari, mirin or chinese wine and maybe some coconut milk/cream at the end garnish with lime juice, fresh coriander, spring onion.

I like 5 spice in mine and fresh spring onions near the end

I do soy sauce and honey plus ginger and garlic or sweet chilli sauce, red wine vinegar, soy sauce and a bit of ketchup plus ginger and garlic. Oh spring onions too mmm
