I'm making a chocolate cake for a friend, just wondering if anyone knows how long chocolate coated popping candy will last in chocolate buttercream in the middle of a cake? xx

Ah soon as the popping candy comes into contact with anything moist it will start to deteriorate. Your best bet would be to fill with normal chocolate buttercream and then sprinkle over the popping candy just before serving

If the popping candy is choc coated then it will last a while as it is sealed within the chocolate and the moisture from the buttercream cannot reach the actual popping candy bit and activate it.

I don't know, but please can I have some of this cake when you've made it? Grin
