We have ripped out our old kitchen and are having to live without a cooker for a while. I have a slow cooker but have never used it. Now is the time! The recipes I find seem to need onions browned off etc on hob first. I need chuck it all in and press go recipes for vegetarians! Please help!!!

You don't have to fry the onions or veg first with a SC.

You can get lots of good SC recipes on link to Pinterest . WARNING it's addictive! Grin

A friend of mine has got a mini oven/grill like this one in her workplace and it's very versatile. They are about £40 quid. It toasts, bakes and grills. It might be good for cooking with.

Good luck with the kitchen. Bin there...

Do you have a microwave still? A kettle? A toaster? When we were between kitchens I bought a portable induction hob and it was excellent for turning out quick one-pot suppers.

Veggie meals that work well in a slow cooker would be mostly bean/lentil based. How about an aromatic Red Pepper and Chickpea stew flavoured with smoked paprika, onions and chopped tomatoes? Or the old standby 'Vegetable Chilli' using squashes and kidney beans? Indian vegetarian meals like Dahl would work well. Hest up some rice in the microwave.

Bag of 8 frozen quorn sausages, 500g bag of frozen squash pieces, diced onion (i usedused a sprinkling of frozen), tin of cannelini beans (drained and rinsed), tin of toms, half tin of water rinsing out the toms, pack of Schwartz sausage and bean casserole slow cooker spices. Chuck in and leave on high for 4 or so hours, stirring a couple of times because initially it's just a frozen lump! I ate it with couscous. I did similar with the Schwartz chicken curry slow cooker spices, following the recipe on the pack but with quorn and nothing precooked.

I have ME and have been experimenting with the slow cooker to find stupidly easy no-prep veggie recipes!
