Need something for birthday tea tonight. I have a sponge recipe but need some inspiration to decorate. She's a pink ballet loving girly girl. Thanks

Would she have fun decorating (pink icing?) herself with jelly sweets, sprinkles etc?

yes and we did this for her school cake - caterpillers, but I need to do this before she gets home from school because we are going out soon after.

how about a butterfly cake? Cut the sponge into the shape of two wings and a central body (can stick bits together with jam until you assemble the required shape!). Cover with pink icing and decorate the wings with sweets (symetrically, of course )

This site always has good ideas for cake shapes. I did the Ella elephant for ds' birthday this year and was a great hit.
