Pasta: chop up the bacon, fry with the pepper, and half onion, mix into cooked pasta with a good dod of quark.

Can you get a tin of toms, use to make a beany stew or chilli of you have any spices, with the sweetcorn, kidney beans and some of the green beans, serve over rice.

Omelette with the eggs and bits of veg you don't use on the above.

And tomato soup for a lunch!

Fine for breakfast usually have scrambled eggs and cup of tea.

Was thinking tom soup for lunch.

Dinner ideas are great, didn't know what to do with the quark Smile

Watching with interest

You can add it into any tomatoey sauce, so if you went for a bean stew you could swirl some in there too - which would look a bit fancy, always good for cheering up end of the month/storecupboard food.

Make a veg chilli using tomato soup, pepper, kidney beans, green beans and sweet corn to have with rice, and carbonara.

Thanks for this - had it last night and it was lovely. I did add a bit of smoked paprika as well.

Not sure how to make carbonara so may make same as last night only with broken green beans instead of pepper.

Carbonara: Cook pasta as normal. While pasta is cooking chop bacon into small pieces and fry it. Break one or two eggs in a bowl and beat with a fork.
Cook sweet corn. Drain pasta and transfer back to pan. Stir beaten eggs into pasta (they will cook in hot pasta) and add grated cheese (if you have), bacon, and sweet corn and stir through. We always add extra grated cheese Smile. My DH and two DS like mackerel Carbonara, just swapping bacon for tinned mackerel, but I can't bear it!

Thanks for that.

My DH loves carbonara but buys the really creamy sauces, gonna try this tomorrow and see what he thinks. Both of us are trying to lose weight so this would help.

If you have soy sauce you can make a lovely meal with boiled rice, fried onions, bacon, peppers and mushrooms (if you have any). Beat up couple of eggs add to veg in wok or frying pan and mix in cooked rice. Add soy sauce to taste. Lived off this at uni!

mumtoblaire · 26/02/2015 17:35

That sounds nice maybe even the kids would like that.

DD1 loves spaghetti with bacon, onions and soy sauce. Much prefers this to chinese chew mein.
