Stop potato roots sprouting!

Store potatoes with an apple to stop them sprouting shoots! It works!

Will have to try this - all the potatoes I've been buying have lasted about a week lately!

I never have a problem provided I keep the potatoes in a dark, dry cupboard and eat them within a few weeks.

We try to do that, but we're in a damp Victorian terrace where "dry" and "cupboard" are mutually exclusive.
