Cheap Ice Cream

Mostly I make my own ice cream but I'm looking for a basic shop ice cream that I can use when I don't need a rich ice cream. I have been buying Wall's soft scoop vanilla 1.8 litre but looking for something a bit cheaper. I've tried Aldi and Lidl's, the Aldi had a strong artificial vanilla flavour that was overpowering, Lidl's was better but a bit icy - has anyone got an recommendations for a decent own brand?

why would you want the cheap stuff? They normally have all the crap ingredients in them.

Mackie's is a wee bit dearer that Wall's soft scoop, but way, way better.

Very mild flavour so great everyday ice cream, plus decent ingredients so a little goes a long way.

Second Mackies which is often on offer (at Sainsbury's or Waitrose). Ingredients are "real" and it doesn't taste artificial or have a strange after taste/feel.

Mackies is the best but we only buy it on offer.

Mackie's all the way here. I think it's lovely stuff and good value too.
