Apart from the blindingly obvious, what can I do with a bag of marmalade oranges? I have no sugar

DH brought back a bag of marmalade oranges by mistake (for normal oranges). We don't live very near shops and I have hardly any sugar though do have honey. What can I do with them? Opened one and realised they werent normal oranges - so bitter! Don't want to waste them. Ideas???

Mix the juice with gin and serve on lots of ice. 'Tis very nice indeed.

I think you can do ceviche with them too. And I guess the bitter juice would go well with rich, fatty meats.

But they freeze really well, so you could just bung them in he freezer until you have sugar for marmalade or cake making.

Bitter orange would go well with duck.

Crystalise the peel and cover in chocolate.

Freeze them until you have some sugar.

DH makes marmalade every year - in vast quantities- and buys the oranges when they come into the shops & free\es them until he is ready to make the stuff.

12 weeks in the freezer is fine - any longer & they start to deteriorate.

Thank you - in the freezer they go. Found a second bag so he's serious in need of new glasses!!!
