HELP, my 12mth old wont attempt to eat any new foods or textures once in the mouth baby reaches gags and sometimes sick. I have tried toast and fruit as finger foods but the same again. Having spoken to the Health Visitors in case of any allergic reactions they have encouraged me to keep trying and that its probably a phase. I am finding it hard to keep seeing him gag and sometimes sick, it doesn't give me any encouragement to try new things. I feel to blame as I am ancious around food anyway and this is probably picked up from me. I wish new foods and finger foods would be eaten so that we can atleast go out for a meal as a family. Any suggestions please....

my son was the same so I tried giving him things to hold whilst he was busy playing. I kept an eye on him so he didn't choke but it worked as he wasn't really thinking about it too much. Also, I was really worried as he wouldn't attempt to eat normal food so I just carried on giving him pureed food but kept increasing the consistancy. Add peas first as they're soft but keep the rest of the food they're in smooth. Hope it works!
