hello, I need some advice on steaming my Christmas puddings. I've had them steaming since 4.30. recipe says 8 hrs but there's no way I can stay up that late! can I stop them steaming when I go to bed and finish off tomorrow? they seem like fairly robust things but have never made them before so I'm not sure if this will have an impact on them? thank you!

I don't think it would be a problem . I have been doing mine in a pressure cooker for 35+ years and do them for 2 hours at top pressure, then re steam open on Christmas day for another 1-2 hours

Having a look at various Christmas pudding recipes, some "only" cook for 4 hours or less anyway, so I would just team for 4 hours and then stop. I wouldn't steam it again tomorrow.
