Gordon Ramsey has inspired me to by goat. (not A goat but goat meat.) Have finally located a supplier - local farmers market - no idea how I haven't spotted it before. Am off to buy some on Sunday and just wondered if anyone is a regular goat eater out there with fab recipes for me!

Blimey.... curry goat is fab! You've gotta try it. I would imagine it would work well in the slow cooker cos it would make the meat really tender. hang on brb

goat is very similar to lamb, so you can use pretty much any lamb recipe. slow-roasted with rosemary/garlic is my favourite.

throckenholt · 06/10/2006 18:10

roast it just like lamb - tastes like lamb (or at least young goat does) - but it is very greasy.

MarsLady · 06/10/2006 18:12

Now froot why would you want another way to cook a goat? Best way to eat it in my complete total and revered opinion. lol And Moondog my darling... the correct term is curry goat

Lemon Drizzle Traybake a la Mars Lady

4 eggs
9oz (250g) soft marg
9oz (250g)caster sugar
12oz (350g)s/r flour
3 level tsps baking powder
6 tbsp milk
grated rind of 2 lemons.

Mix all ingredients. Put in lined tin. Bake (about 30-40mins) I think I do it at about 180.

Icing:
Lemon juice (from 2 lemons)
12oz (350g) icing sugar sieved

Warm lemon juice. Prick warm cake and spoon over 3 or 4 tbs lemon juice (20 secs in microwave will warm it). Add icing sugar to the rest of the lemon juice (as thick or thin as you like) then drizzle!

Yeah. You might want to scale the recipe back by a third.

Waswondering... it's amazing what you can fit into slow cookers these days. Rofl!

Well if it's a big dish.... go for your life!

Check the cake whilst it's in the oven though. Different ovens seem to operate on different timings.

And stop it... I'm trying to get back to Twelfth Night and Measure for Measure.

slow-roasted goat is v. nice indeed. As throckenholt says, treat like lamb or mutton depending on age.
