Does anyone have any knowledge of nut free mince pie recipes please?

Hi, year after year I struggle to buy mince pies that are nut free (DS1 has severe allergy). DH and I do like a mince pie or two around Christmas so I am keen to make my own this year, can anyone help? Thanks all.

I remember making a sort of mush of dried fruit and apple when DS had severe nut allergy as a toddler and making pies with them. (don't remeber if I used suet) They were quite nice! He no longer has a severe reaction to nuts any more either so fingers crossed-it might not be forever!

I might have plumped the fruit up first by soaking in some orange juice...

I have got a recipe for suet free mince meat & they only nuts in it are chopped almonds which you can easily omit. It has apple & grapes in it & is delicious.

My mum hates nuts, this is her mincemeat recipe:

Ingredients
8 oz currants
8 oz sultanas
8 oz raisins
8 oz sugar
8 oz suet
8 oz cooking apples (after peeling and coring)
1 lemon – juice (and grated rind if liked)
2 tbsp brandy

Method

1. Chop apples
2. Put apples and fruit through processor
3. Mix all ingredients
4. Push down into sterilised jam jars, excluding air pockets
5. Seal with greaseproof, cling film and lid

You can increase the brandy if you like, I do

This makes 3-4 jars, they will keep for a year or so, so I only tend to make every other year, but you can scale down if you prefer!

THen either make your pastry or buy some ready made, roll and cut out the bases, put in baking tin holes dollop of mincemeat in each, moisten round the edges with water, cut out the pie tops, press them on top pushing down round the edges to seal, egg wash and bake for 20-30 mins or until done.

And sprinkle with caster sugar as soon as they are out of the oven!
