Pears poached in mead, food for the gods or the compost heap?

I have pears (garden glut), I have mead (Christmas present I think).

Alternatively is there something better I could be doing with pears or mead? Please dont suggest drinking the mead, I have work tomorrow and a mead hangover has breadth & texture!

Are your pears very ripe?

GnomeDePlume · 26/10/2014 18:02

Not very ripe but a few were starting to drop so I didnt want to leave them. They all came off the tree cleanly.

They are fairly firm but I think that is also the variety

Food of gods.
Just don't add any extra sugar (obviously).

Pick all of them and store most of those firmer for later.

Thank you very much. i will do a bit of both. Poach a few and store the rest.
