Your best sausage roll recipe please!

I'm very partial to a home made sausage roll and have made them a few times using a very basic recipe. Would love to try something with a bit of added flavour so would love some suggestions on what works best.

I haven't got sn actual recipe, but a DF makes them with chopped up salami and onion on the sausage mix and they are TO DIE FOR.

Use haggis instead of sausagemeat, that's lots of flavour and just as easy, or spread the pastry with onion chutney or your favourite mustard before rolling it round the sausages... Those are my two regular diversions from the classic Smile

Never tasted haggis and not sure if you can buy it where I live but I love the onion chutney idea. The salami idea sounds interesting too.

I use lovely sausage meat from the butchers, very finely chopped red onion - small onion to 1 lb sausage meat, teaspoon of dried sage, and I also spread red onion marmalade on the pastry.

Might take some sausage meat out of the freezer after writing this!

Also, as week as an egg wash I sprinkle poppy seeds on the rolls if I have some open.
