Is 10 hours on low too long for a slow cooker?

I leave the house at 8 and get back at 6 at the earliest. If I do a slowcooker recipe it usually states 6-8 hrs on low. I will try and do a trial this weekend but does anyone else have to cook for 10 hours? Would I need to add more liquid? Does this discount chicken (as it would overcook)? My slowcooker doesn't have a timer on it unfortunately.

I do this lots- it is fine for some meat- braising steak stands up to anything! Just add a small amount of extra water. Alternatively I sometimes use a timer in the socket to automatically switch on a few hours after I leave.

Yesterday I did chicken thighs in soy, garlic honey and ginger. I put the thighs in partially frozen which worked really well as the recipe didn't have a lot of liquid. I love my slow cooker!

Stick to chicken thighs instead of breast meat and it'll be fine. Bone-in even better, and the bones will just fall out, yummers! Smile
