Can you reheat fish pie cooked from frozen fish?

Cooked fish pie last night using frozen fish pieces. Cooled quickly in fridge after. Can I reheat it? Something about the fact that the fish was frozen in the first place is telling me not to!

I have actually already heated it for toddler and then had second thoughts! It's just cooling.

yes - it should be absolutely fine. Why wouldn't it be - it was being preserved more thoroughly before you cooked it than if it hadn't been frozen.

Yes! you cooked it after it was defrosted. But as always make sure you heat it to piping hot, not just luke warm

Brilliant. Thank you. I'm always extra cautious with the toddler. It's so hot it burned my mouth so should be safe!

Something was telling me you couldn't cook frozen, cool and then cook again.

Yes. and you can also cook frozen meat/fish, freeze the result and then reheat that. So long as its properly frozen and properly reheated.

Most 'fresh' fish has actually been frozen anyway - otherwise it wouldn't get from the middle of the ocean to the shop in good shape.

I think you might be confusing it with ' do not refreeze'

  • you can freeze stuff again though, if it has been cooked since defrosting. I.e. defrost raw meet, cook food, then cool and freeze.

Yes, I would.

Right. Thanks everyone. That's good to know. I think I learned my hysterical food safety from my mother. Everything was very very well cooked. She still snatches stuff out of my hands now at her house to check the dates/ see how long it's been open!

In the nicest possible way, I would tell your mother to get a life. If it smells OK, it is OK.

OP OP - are you still alive? I’m about to so the same thing...
