Will anything cool the taste of too much black pepper in soup?

I should probably just give up on making soup Sad

The blooming lid fell off the black pepper when I was adding it to my soup.

I've just finished it and it's far too hot.

Have in laws coming tomorrow and they def won't be able to eat it.

Can I do anything? Have no time to start over.

cream or milk can damp down heat in food. pour out a cup of the soup and add a little milk to see if it works.

Probably too late but add a potato or two and simmer for an hour or so, then freeze overnight as I find freezing can really knock flavours back. Then doctor with cream or milk as above.
