Please give me some ideas!

It went out of date yesterday. I don't have any strawberries Sad, but do have underripe peaches, some grapes and bananas. Savoury ideas also welcome. Fairly good store cupboard with plenty of flour, butter etc.

TIA.

I'd make fruit scones and just whip it up to fill them.

Praline semi-fredo. Jamie oliver's recipe here
Its really really good!

Tbh if it only went out of date yesterday I wouldn't worry too much about using it today but if I had to Pavlova with whipped cream, poach the peaches in a syrup, cool and use to top the pavlova.
Lemon posset, chocolate truffles?
Cider and cream sauce for use with pork/chicken,mushroom sauce, creamed spinach, irish coffees all round.

Brown some chicken breasts, add sliced mushrooms. Then add some mustard, Dijon or grainy, or both. About a tablespoonful. If you have some white wine, add about half a pint of that, of just chicken stock.
Cook for 15 mins or so until the wine/stock has mostly reduced down. Then add 300ml or so of your cream & cook for another few mins.
Lovely with rice or pasta.

Pasta Carbonara,
meringue nests,
you could whip it into butter
Cream cakes

madamginger · 20/08/2014 15:55

Sorry meant Eton mess with meringue nests

Chop an onion very finely and fry gently, add cream then add copious amounts of Stilton and melt slowly, add salt and pepper to taste and serve with tagliatelle.

Make sure you have your cardiologist on speed dial. Grin

Make butter. Easy and useful and it'll last a while if you put salt in it.

Just whip it to death, or put in a lidded pot and shake until it goes thud instead of slosh. Rinse all the liquid (buttermilk) out very thoroughly under a cold tap. Bob's your uncle.

Germgirl · 20/08/2014 16:01

Or! Dauphinoise potatoes. They are amazing!
Or yes, make it into butter.
Or whip it & freeze it.

DealForTheKids · 20/08/2014 16:08

My idea was similar to Germgirl - my favourite (indulgent) dinner is tonnes of white wine and double cream slowly simmered down into a sloppy sauce served with chicken, bacon bits and mushrooms on a pile of tagliatelle.

I'm a thyme nut and stick loads in, but a little with some black pepper and you have yourself there my number 1 'rubbish day' dinner!

Of course, having bought the wine to throw in the sauce, it's criminal not to accompany the pile of pasta with a glass of the stuff Smile

Whip it, pipe it or dollop it onto a baking sheet lined with clingfilm and freeze them. When they're solid, pack into a box and use them to decorate cakes or puddings. They'll defrost dead quickly Smile

Homemade rice pudding

BoffinMum · 20/08/2014 16:16

bathe in it and save the calories.

Desertrunner · 20/08/2014 16:21

Make a big spag carbonara or a potato dauphinoise. Yum

Gerty1002 · 20/08/2014 17:48

Liking all the wine ideas but I have none :(. Also dinner is sorted, there's shepherd's pie in the oven. Freezing it whipped sounds like the best plan. Thanks everyone.
