What do you feed your kids when you are out in town?

My ds aged 3 will eat most things but absolutely begs for a Sausage Roll from greggs when we are out. now my 14 month dd likes them too! I don't mind them eating pastry goods occassionally but oh the crumbs in my pushchair...bane of my life!

Just wondering what other families feed your kids when you're out and about?

depends where we are. In our local town, if it is a snack, then a bun from Bakers Oven. They get one every Saturday after drama school anyway.

If it is meal time we do thelocal 'green cafe'. However it is only green in that it is painted green!! They are pretty good in there and the kids often have omlette or one of teh specials in a small size.

Sandwiches (grated cheese gets everywhere though)
Bananas or apples
cheese pasty

We're veggie so not that many healthy snack options on the High Street. Tend to take bananas everywhere which is ok so long as I remember to take the uneaten ones out of the car (yuk!)

My ds also likes those sandwich shops set out like a salad bar wher he can say "I want a cheese sandwich. no a ham one. but i want tomatoes. and cucumber" and the nice lady moves along the row putting in anything he wants. And she only charges you a quid. AND it's big enough to share with his sister.

Depends how healthy I am feeling.

We usually stop and eat in a cafe together for lunch if out and about - so sandwiches, soup, jacket potatoes, etc.

If for some reason she needs to eat ont he move, she might have a sandwich in her hand. For snacks she will have fruit, yogurt raisins or sometimes chocolate.

DD doesn't appear to like pastry things.

If we are having lunch ds loves pizza express or harvester as they do the salad cart and he loves the croutons!

To sit down and eat, we go to Wetherspoon's 'pub' which is full of small children - the food isn't great but if I am managing the toddler + baby I prefer not to have to worry too much about mess/noise.

On the go I buy snacks from Marks and Spencer's - walnut bread, chicken strips, melon slices, nice juices - it's expensive but reasonable stuff.

There is also a juice bar that does fresh juice - we stop there and have a smoothie. Then normally get a hot-dog from the hot-dog van - local sausages, not crap.

Drool...!

Today for DD (18 months) I had raisins, banana, a pot of cous-cous and water. We stopped in Debenhams at the cafe. If I'm with DS (6) it's McD's I'm afraid.

A bread roll from a bakery, cheese toastie from the cafe by the beach or a plain McDonalds burger.

I am much more difficult to feed unless there is sushi (can't eat gluten)

I usually take fruit and cereal bars but we often stop for a treat somewhere. There is a great cafe that does proper home made cakes, but other than that he has had things ranging from Debenhams' snack boxes containing fruit and mini cheese etc, ice cream in the park, a tea cake or scone, to chips with ketchup and (yes Fio calm down now) the dreaded brown sauce.

I take a box of raisens, breadsticks, oatcakes and Grizzley bars out with me, dd often begs for a tangerine in Somerfield.

So far so healthy, but ....

Oh, btw, re Bakers Oven, one has opened recently near us in Diss, Norfolk (where we get sausage rolls from) and there's on in Norwich. I assumed they were a national chain, not just northern.
