I used to think I didn't like gin. And then I had something that wasn't a Gordons and Schweppes. It was a fucking revelation. What are your favourites? What mixers do you use? And how does madam prefer her martini?

Hello, this thread is a little old now. Take a look at this handy page for a round up of Mumsnetters' favourite gins.

My faves are Miller's, Plymouth and Hayman's Old Tom. I also like Hendricks. Tried Fever Tree tonic but not so keen - still stick with Schweppes slimline!
I once tried a really nice gin - Brockmans - in a pub. Dh tried to buy a bottle but they don't sell it round here - he bought online in the end. Selfridges said they don't stock it as it's not a 'proper' gin!

Aldi's gin is worth it, in an emergency. I will confess to being a Bombay fan. Especially with Bombay mix as an accompaniment.

Fever tree, all the way. And the juice of a fresh lime. In times of abstinence, lime in the fever tree will do a nice job on its own.

I cannot stand Gordon's. It's awful.
I firmly believe that Gordon's is the reason people don't like gin

My favourite is probably Caorunn, with sliced pink lady apple and fever tree tonic
Closely followed by Hendricks with cucumber and again fever tree
Then, Tanqueray with loads of fresh lime and cranberry juice.

I didn't know there were so many differe not gins Blush. Have only had Gordon's and Bombay Sapphire. Oh, and I did try the Xoriguer in Menorca , but was pregnant at the time so just a taste couple of shots.

Must investigate ¡
