Help! What the hell do you feed a fussy two year old who will only have cold stuff when it's so hot?

On our list to eat we have,

Crackers
Pepper sticks
Grapes
Apples
Cheese at a push
Bread sticks
Sweet corn
Jam sandwiches.
Strawberries
Toast at a push once cold

He will point blank refuse pasta any other veg or hot meals when it's so hot, tonight has seen crackerbreads grapes cheese and it's the most he's had all day, otherwise it's cereals and yoghurt.

Problem is I only like to prepare one meal so what especially can the rest of us have whilst I lure him into new tastes/textures.

He will also have those square flat bread things, I'm trying square wraps this week but what to put in them when he refuses all cold meats.

Poached salmon, cooled with salad and new potatoes also cooled?

Cold frittata/ spanish omelette with salad.

He can have the bits he will eat out of it and you can have the complete meal.

Cold pizza, pasta, rice or cous cous salads, look up chilled soups, hummus or guacamole or yoghyurt/ quarkdips with breadsticks and carrot sticks, quark or plain yoghurt with fruit, cold stuffed vegetables .... My kids all loved middle eastern inspired food.

Mine is enjoying cool/cold new potatoes with sausages (hot or cold), ham, cheese, omelette, and cold veg-type stuff like cooked beetroot, cubes of cooked carrot, frozen peas (still frozen!), sweetcorn etc etc. New potatoes are the staple, to be honest.

How about grated cheese and red peppers in his wrap, plus guacamole and stir fried chicken and veg in the wraps for the rest of the family?

sharond101 · 25/07/2014 22:28

what about tuna, humous, falafel or cheese spread and cucumber in the wraps?

Same problem with my DS. He did eat some soreen with cold butter on yesterday and some seeded bread finger sandwiches with lots of cream cheese and avacado. I also made some banana milkshake from fresh banana and frozen banana chunks, milk and bit of honey. You can put yoghurt in as well. I am going to try more smoothies today and get one of those plastic cups with a top and straw to make it more interesting.

Davidtennantmistress · 26/07/2014 14:48

Oh smoothies is a good idea, but how about the sugar?

I'll give him a whirl on grated cheese peppers and cucumber?

He's not a fan of eggs or such likes. :( we've just walked along the shore to dinner he asked for dinner (harvester) he's literally just had a bowl of bacon bits, raisins grated carrot and sweet corn, oh and two bread rolls, his main meal he left. It won't hurt will it for the months it's sunny?
