I want to make tuna poke today but we have no fishmonger...can you eat supermarket tuna raw?

Yes, but you should freeze for 24 hours before hand to control parasites.

Canned tuna or fresh tuna? I wouldn't with fresh tuna (did you see the tapeworm thread?) unless you freeze it first....

OK, I got some tuna steaks from Sainsbury's in the end and it says that it has been previously frozen. But I can't know for sure how long, can I?

Thing is, loads of people eat tuna steaks rare. Is that the same?

I'd guess that it has been deep frozen for some time, so fine for sashimi.
