Anyone else batch-cooking for the freezer?

Just trying to wile away the time as I soak and cook 5 different kinds of beans. And am not quite ready to face chopping up 7 onions and eighty-twelve cloves of garlic.

But I do look forward to having all this food made up. There will be stacks and rows of elegant little tupperwares in the freezer, each containing a highly nutritious and exquisitely tasty meal. And am fantasizing about hardly having any dishes to wash at all during the weeks.

I see what you mean keatsie! Which reminds me, I must go and bag up the gulab jaman (Indian sweets) my mum made which are sitting spaced out on an open tray in the freezer and have been for a few days...

Unlucky that looks great! So is each bag filled with something different and the blocks are just individual portions? Sorry if I'm being a bit slow!

I really think that is brilliant. Especially since as you say when ready to eat, you can just pop them into bowls and heat without having containers to wash. So cool.

Thanks Flowers - first time I did it just seemed like a good idea...Blush

And yes lightening - one is chilli and one is bolognaise...each block is a portion...
Sometimes when I feel organised I do small and bigger ones - so enough for just the DCs or bigger for making lasagne...
(I also freeze white sauce - make twice as much as I need and freeze the rest - it splits but ok in lasagne/macaroni cheese)
If I am making something like pastry I will make a lot and freeze the left overs in portion size.
And also things like stuffing and bread sauce at Christmas - freeze left overs in one tub (so a bit of chestnut stuffing, sage & onion and bread sauce) and then have them with roast chicken...
(All due to laziness - don't like cooking Blush)

Ha! Laziness is exactly why I cook like this too.
