To make with my Brownie unit next week. One Brownie can't eat gluten or dairy, and the cooker in the hall is crap.

Any suggestions please wise Mumsnetters?

Fruit salad?

ilovepowerhoop · 06/06/2014 23:02

can you melt stuff? What about a marshmallow crispy square recipe where you could substitute butter with a dairy free spread

does it have to be sweet? you could make a lovely noodle salad with veg and rice noodles (or even gluten free spaghetti, I found some in tescos last week) or vietnamese summer rolls would be cool too.

Salad, lots of chopping! peppers, tomatoes, spring onions, herbs! Maybe a peanut sauce if they are ok with nuts, otherwise a sweet soy one.

Same for the vietnamese rolls, rice wraps, just need gentle soak in hot water..fill with chopped ready made rice noodles, chopped herbs (coriander, mint, thai basil), reconstituted dried mushrooms. Then either buy or make a hoisin sauce, or a soy dipping sauce.

If you can't find rice wrappers round your way, you should be able to get them online, or drop me a PM and I could send you some!

...cucumber, grated carrot....etc etc

MadameDefarge · 11/06/2014 00:31

oops, just spotted the date on this...oh well! hope it went well!

Soy sauce is gluten-based so you'd need to use a special gluten-free version

MadameDefarge · 11/06/2014 00:57

never knew that red, how interesting!

Great ideas, thanks everyone. We were thinking of something sweet, so marshmallow squares would be a good idea. Think I'll use the noodle salad one at our next sleepover weekend - girls can make their own lunch.
